We are the 11th Torbay (Barton) Sea Scout Group.
Our Scout Headquarters is located at Lummaton Cross, Happaway Road, Torquay.
We are a Royal Navy Recognised Sea Scout Group (see below for more information) and have four sections which structure programs based around a Land Season and a Water Season.
This enables all young people the ability to earn the Chief Scout’s Awards and take part in a range of water activities (including sailing, kayaking and pulling).
We are a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre which allows us run RYA courses for our members.
The water season takes place at Torquay Harbour.

Royal Navy Recognition
We are a Royal Navy Recognised Sea Scout Group, number 38. This is an agreement between the Scout Association and the Royal Navy, which brings a great deal of honour to the Group as there are only 103 places allocated to the scheme. Recognised Groups are permitted to:
- Wear the Royal Navy Pennant.
- Fly the defaced Red Ensign.
- Visit and camp at HMS Bristol in Portsmouth and at certain other military establishments, by prior arrangement.
- Participate in annual events, namely the swimming gala held in February at HMS Raleigh, the Sea Scout summer camp and the Explorer Sea Scout camp held in October.
Fund Raising
We take part in a number of ways to fund raise for the Group. Bag packs at the local supermarkets, sponsored walks, and also Easy Fundraising, where companies donate a % of the sale when you shop online, just click on the link to sign up to support our Group
