New Scout Group Welcomes New Members

A new Scout Group in Brixham launched this month welcoming a mixture of 15 new boys and girls to the movement, alongside 5 new adult volunteers who will be Leading this new Group.

The group based in Brixham Town currently hosts a Beaver Section for 6 to 8 year olds and a Cubs Section for 8 to 10 year olds on Wednesday nights in Scala Hall.  The new members started off with a ‘getting to know you’ session, where everyone discovered facts about each other whilst playing games and learning new knot skills.

Sarah said after the first meeting ” I just wanted to let you know how much my son enjoyed his first session. Thank you.”

The group is planning to teach First Aid skills go Hiking and learn more about Navigation and Space Exploration over the coming weeks.

Richard Carpenter, Group Leader with 12 years’ experience in Scouting said

“It’s great to see a Group back in the Town giving the youth of the area another option for getting outside and experiencing Adventure in a safe and controlled environment.  This gives the youth members and Adult Volunteers opportunities to learn new and exciting life skills.”

The Group is already planning to open a new Scout section for 10 to 14 year olds later in the year and is looking for adults to help run the section.  Scouting offers flexible volunteering opportunities supported by experienced leaders and adult training.  If anyone is interested in joining the Group either as youth members or Adult Volunteers please contact Richard on 01803 907259
